The Inaugural Pacer 10km Handicap Race

Sunday 12 May 2019 saw the running of the first Pacer 10km handicap race. Those not enjoying a Mother’s Day sleep in and breakfast in bed braved the icy wind to suffer through a 10km effort. Notable results included James going sub-50 for the first time and Clarissa getting back to some strong running form with an 48.33 and taking out the win.

Pacers travelled to parkruns at Stockton, Newy, Armidale, Horseshoe Bay Reserve and The Entrance.

Binskin Snr (Jon) and Binskin Jnr (Ryan) ran their 100th consecutive parkrun and Ryan also hit 150 total parkruns.

Take 2 of the Pacer team photo was deemed a success, albeit quite a few members being missing on the day.

Milestones, Star Wars Day, and Ironman

Saturday was Star Wars Day. #MayTheFourthBeWithYou. On a wet and miserable day, Trish and Lizzie knocked over their 100th parkrun, and Kylie and Steph notched their 50th. Well done crew!

Saturday morning was also IronKids. Fast forward to Sunday, and its Ironman Day. Pauls team won the 70.3 mens team relay, we had Tammy completed her first 70.3, Rach was impressive as always in 70.3 and Andy and Denise completed the FULL. We had quite a few team members in 70.3, most notably the Ashtons combining for a mixed team. And we vollied. A Lot. From 4:30am until 10:30pm we were out on course, cheering the competitors home. Well done to all that participated.

Easter weekend = Tourist parkruns

It was the weekend for tourist parkruns, with Pacers participating at Tamworth, Taree, Horseshoe Bay Reserve, Broadbeach Waters, Ararat and of course Port Macquarie parkrun events.

Gary ran his 100th parkrun at Ararat – congrats Gary!!!

The long weekend also meant a big turn out for the Easter Sunday Pacer Pursuit, with coffee and chocolate eggs at Little Shack afterwards.

Parkrun PBs, Masters Games, Australian Running Festival and Social Sunday!

What a weekend!

Paul, Ebanie and Chel smashed out new PBs at Port parkrun, while Binnie and Pat broke poor Dave.

Sue ran a great Half Mara at one of her fave events, the Australian Running Festival in Canberra, while Gary took home a swathe of medals from the SA Port Pirie Masters Games.

A big contingent of Pacers enjoyed the Social Sunday run from Bonny Hills to Catarina Estate and back for brekky and coffee at Fat Fish Cafe.

Dan’s first marathon

The quiet achiever Dan Watts smashed out his very first marathon at NewRun (Newcastle Running Festival) on Sunday. Paced by Cliff Hoeft and Jon Binskin, Dan crossed the line in 3hrs 24mins, an epic time for a first attempt at the 42.2km distance! Dan even bagged an age group place! Congrats Dan the Man!!!

Dan, Cliff and Jon were joined at NewRun by Chel, Carina and Bernadette who ran the 10km.

Love and Marriage, PBs, a first time win, RunWest action, and a winery tour. Phew!

What better way to start a weekend than with 4 PB’s and a first time win! Chel, Madeline, Cliff and Paul all smoked out PBs at Port parkrun, with Paul, in his first run in the Pacers singlet, smashing out a win! #ItsNotARace 😉

Meanwhile, at the winery, the ladies were working up a thirst at Grapest

And in Sydneys west, Amanda and Suzie took on RunWest, and scored some epic bling!

Oh yeah, and these two love-birds tied the knot! Big day! #BiggLove

Pacers take over Coffs parkrun

A large contingent of the finest Pacer members road-tripped to Coffs Harbour on the weekend, and dominated Coffs parkrun.

Pacers took out tokens 001, 002 and 003 with Ryan Binskin, Jon Binskin and Cliff Hoeft bringing their speedy legs on the day.

It was a sea of blue Pacer shirts with Grechs, more Binskins and Hoefts, Gardiners, Fitzgeralds, Banks, Whites, Philps, Cash/Kings, Browns, Dawsos, Goodwins, Stevensons, Gregorys, Ashtons and Poltoraskys scattered throughout the field.

Well done crew!

Gary nails a sub-20!

The one and only Gary Snow smashed out his first sub-20min 5k at Port Macquarie Parkrun this morning, after chasing the elusive goal for almost six months! Fellow Pacer Cliff Hoeft paced Gary perfectly, coming in in an official time of 19 minutes 41 seconds.

Huge congratulations to you Gary!

Port Mac Run Fest 2019

Well, it was stinking hot, and ridiculously humid, but we all got out there and busted ourselves at the Port Macquarie Running Festival over the weekend. Highlights were

  • Honni and Jo completing their first half marathon
  • Ryan, Gary and Grace with Age Group Wins
  • Adam and Natalia with PBs in the half
  • Jon became the ‘last buster standing’ – the only person to complete all Forster and Port Macquarie Buster races
